THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's tennis outlasted Colorado College, winning 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Regals won their third straight dual and improved to 7-3 on the year. It is their second straight 5-4 win.
The Regals found themselves down 2-1 after singles play. The one point came from Carmen Bufkin and Mina Ahmadi at the No. 1 spot with a score of 8-7 (7-2).
The Tigers claimed the other two doubles matches which were both intense battles. Kylee Limpias and Maddy Ford were defeated 6-8 at the No. 2 and Gerda Jucys and Luisa Garcia came up just shat at the No. 3 spot with 7-8 (3-7).
The Regals tied up the dual quick in singles play as Kayla Kling won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot. The Tigers took the next two spots and went up 4-2 as Garcia fell 4-6, 5-7 at the No. 2 and Fatima Nemi Revilla fell 2-6, 2-6 at the No. 3.
The Regals roared back and won the next three matches to take the dual. Ahmadi won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 at the No. 4 and Limpias won 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 at the No. 5. The dual came down to Bufkin at the No. 1. She got the clinch as she won 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
The Regals are back in action on Monday afternoon as they host Middlebury at 3 pm.
