THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — John Frazier dealt as Cal Lutheran baseball took the first game of its doubleheader against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 5-2, but the Kingsmen dropped the final game of the series 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE: Kingsmen 5, Stags 2
Coming off his second SCIAC Pitcher of the Week award, Frazier (W) added another dominant performance to his impressive senior year campaign, holding the Stags (14-3, 3-3 SCIAC) to just one run through 7.1 IP.
The Kingsmen (10-5, 4-5 SCIAC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs and runners on first and third,
Kai Caranto scored thanks to a dropped pop-up by the Stags and
Sebastian Smith singled to score
Troy Anderson.
While Frazier put up zeros, the Kingsmen added more insurance in the fourth and fifth innings.
Blake Wink drove in
Lucas Danielewicz with an RBI single and, after working his way to third, was driven in by
Noah Matsumoto. Wink got his second knock of the game the next inning, scoring Anderson with an RBI groundout to make it 5-0.
Joshua Kim closed out the last 1.2 innings to secure the win in the first game of the doubleheader.

GAME TWO: Kingsmen 3, Stags 6

Josh Quinn. The Stags immediately answered back with two more runs in the fifth inning to make it 5-1, and although the Kingsmen pushed across one run each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth, they never were able to mount a big inning to even up the score.
With the scoreboard reading 6-3 in favor of the Stags heading into the bottom of the ninth, the Kingsmen got the tying run to the plate with two outs but couldn't keep the inning going.
