THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis battled another Northwest Conference Opponent but fell to the Whitman Blues 6-2 on Thursday afternoon.
The Kingsmen are 4-2 this year against NWC competition and fall to 5-4 overall.
The Blues of Whitman took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The Kingsmen took the No. 1 spot as Ethan Sherwood and Loup Sudre won 8-4. Andy Ai and James Truong fell at the No. 2 spot 2-8 and Raphael Simon and Jakob Buhler fell 6-8 at the No. 3.
Sherwood continued his dominance throughout singles play. He scored the Kingsmen's lone point at the No. 1 spot with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4).
The Blues took four more of the singles matches as they won the dual. Ai lost at the No. 2, Sudre fell at the No. 3, Jake Anderson was defeated at the No. 5, and Truong fell at the No. 6.
The Kingsmen jump right back into action on Sunday as they host Colorado College at 2 pm.
