THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Alline Ballard recorded 21 points and 16 rebounds in Cal Lutheran women's basketball's 67-50 win over Redlands on Saturday evening.
After dropping their previous two games, the Regals (14-6) got back on track with an important conference win. With a 9-3 SCIAC record, the Regals are tied with La Verne and Occidental for first-place in the conference.
Ballard has a double-double in six of her last seven games, as her 21 points and 16 rebounds tonight were a game-high in both categories. Kaiya Mack went 5-6 from the field adding 13 points and Sara Mills had 10.
The Regals outscored the Bulldogs (10-10, 6-6 SCIAC) 22-3 in the fourth quarter to stamp their victory. Mills had all 10 of her points in the fourth as the Regals shot 7-14 and 3-3 from three to pull away.
After a competitive first quarter, the Regals opened up the second with an 11-2 run, but the Bulldogs answered with a 10-2 run of their own. The Regals went into halftime leading 35-30.
The Bulldogs got themselves back into the game in the third quarter with their most efficient quarter, but the Regals had their way in the fourth.
The Regals were physically dominant all night, recording 36 points in the points and outrebounding the Bulldogs 52-34 and 23-10 on the offensive glass.
Up next, the Regals remain at Gilbert Arena for a huge matchup against first-place Occidental (16-3, 10-3 SCIAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
