Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Regals Wrap Up Tina Finali Tournament

(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Jan. 15, 2023) Cal Lutheran women's water polo wrapped up the Tina Finali Tournament on Saturday. They fell to Cal State 15-8 and CSUN 13-7.

Versus the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, Miranda Miller led the way with two goals and six more Regals scored once. They had six assists on their eight goals. Jacsen Donohue helped move the ball around with three assists and Hudson Geier had two. Miller and Knight had their team in good positions with two drawn exclusions each. 

Izzy De Souza and Vianne Will split time in goal, making five saves each. The Pioneers jumped on the Regals outscoring them 5-2 in the first and 6-2 in the second. The Pioneers coasted the rest of the way and won the game.  

Against the CSUN Matadors, Knight led the way with three goals. Donohue dished out two assists and Miller drew two exclusions. De Souza was in goal and tallied 16 saves. 

The Regals battled their Division I opponent to the end. Down 7-3 at the half, the Regals fired back and outscored the Matadors 3-1 in the third quarter. CSUN held onto the lead in the fourth and won the game. 

Up next is the Convergence Tournament. It starts Friday with Cal State Monterey Bay at 11 am and Penn State Behrend at 3 pm.
