THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Jan. 15, 2023) Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse started the 2024 season on the road as they fell to the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 23-1 on Wednesday night. 

Josie Oparanaku scored the first goal of the season for the Regals, breaking through in the second quarter. 

Malina Diaz led the Regals in draw controls and caused turnovers with three and two, respectively. Sydney Shin matched Diaz with two caused turnovers. 

Bella Bravo was in goal for the Regals. She had 17 saves and a team-high four ground balls. 

The Athenas jumped all over the Regals and scored the first 11 goals of the game taking an early lead at the beginning of the second quarter. The deficit was too much to overcome as the Regals fell to the Athenas. 

The Regals continue the season on the road. They are at Chapman on Saturday at 12 pm.
