Regals Conclude Road Trip with Doubleheader Versus Emory

ATLANTA — Cal Lutheran softball concluded its six-game road trip to Georgia with a doubleheader against Emory, where they fell to the Eagles in both games.

GAME ONE: Regals 4, Eagles 5 (F/8)
After the Eagles (2-0) scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning, starting pitcher Ally Forbell (0-2) put up zeros in the second and third innings to allow the Regals offense to capture the lead in the top of the fourth. Jasmine Delgado reached on a fielder's choice and Brooke DeSmet singled with one out. Nadia Collins got the Regals on the board with an RBI single, Ahlyssa Guzman gave them the lead with a sacrifice fly, and Regan Laubscher got them one more with another RBI single. The Regals jumped ahead 3-1 but would look back on this inning wanting more as they left the bases loaded to end it.

The Regals led 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Eagles chipped away to force extra innings, scoring one run in the sixth and another in the seventh to extend the game.

Forbell pitched 7.0 innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits and three walks while striking out two. Casey Edwards (0-2) pitched the eighth and took the decision loss.

GAME TWO: Regals 0, Eagles 8
The second game against the Eagles ended in the fifth as the Regals fell 8-0. Ava Tepesano (0-2) started and took the decision, going 3.0 innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits. In relief, Ashlyn Flinchum went 1.2 innings, and Abby Strong had two hits in the contest. Like in game one, the Regals were hurt by leaving runners on as they left eight on base.
