Kingsmen Jump on Puget Sound for 9-2 Win

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Blake Wink's first-inning homer was the beginning of Cal Lutheran baseball's offensive success in its 9-2 win over Puget Sound on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Josh Quinn led off the bottom of the first with a double, Wink hit the first Kingsmen (2-0, 0-0 SCIAC) home run of the season with a 412-foot screamer to dead center to quickly make it 2-0.

The Kingsmen followed up the first inning with a four-spot in the second. Gordon Richardson knocked in Kai Caranto, Carlos Vega and Quinn scored on two wild pitches, and Lucas Danielewicz drove in Wink, who was hit by a pitch.

John Frazier (1-0) picked up the win for the Kingsmen with 5.0 innings, one hit, three walks, and no runs while striking out seven Loggers (2-2). Frazier K'd six in his first three innings of work, including back-to-back strikeouts with runners on second and third to end the third inning emphatically.

The Kingsmen scored their seventh, eighth, and ninth runs in the third inning thanks to three hits and a forced error. After Noah Matsumoto reached on an error and Caranto singled, Richardson drove them both in with an RBI single. Wink doubled with two outs to drive in Richardson, his third RBI of the game.

After Frazier, it was the combined efforts of Kyle Johnson, Carson Stanfield, Dean Olsson, Cameron Cooper, and Joshua Kim to close the final four innings out of the bullpen for the Kingsmen.
