THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Devon Lewis hit a game-winner with under 25 seconds to go to help Cal Lutheran beat the University of Redlands 73-71 on Saturday night. 

It was the third straight win for Cal Lutheran and the end of a three-game win streak for Redlands; it was also the second-lowest point total for Redlands all season. 

It was back-and-forth early, as the senior Lewis scored 9 of the team's first 11 points, but after a 13-13 tie with 13 minutes to go in the half, Lewis put the Kingsmen in front with a layup and they wouldn't relinquish the lead for the rest of the half. 

Up by four coming out of the half, the Kingsmen kept their feet on the gas, extending their lead to 43-33. A 19-6 run, however, would put the Bulldogs up 52-49 with less than 10 minutes to play. 

This lead would hold until there was only a minute left, when a Tommy Griffitts layup put the Kingsmen up one before two Bulldogs free-throws put them back in front.

This would set up Devon Lewis to take it upon himself and heave a heavily contested three. He nailed it, sending Gilbert Arena into a frenzy. 

Lewis, who tied a season-high 31 total points on the night while pulling within 16 of 1,000 career points, said that he blacked out on the final possession, but that he told the team before the possession to just help him get a good shot. 

"Just get me the ball," Lewis said. 

Cal Lutheran is back in action next Saturday, December 14 at 3 p.m. in Walla Walla, Washington against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
