THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Four Kingsmen tallied double-digit points as Cal Lutheran topped Pomona-Pitzer 76-66 in its SCIAC opener on Wednesday night.
Stephen Davis,
Devon Lewis,
Tommy Griffitts, and
Nick Attanasio dropped 16, 14, 13, and 10, respectively. Griffitts added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
The Sagehens struck first, but the Kingsmen went on an 8-point run to make it 8-2. The Kingsmen wouldn't relinquish the lead the rest of the half, as they would go into halftime up 36-27.
Pomona-Pitzer came out firing in the second half, going on an 11-2 run to give the Sagehens a one-point lead. It would be short-lived, however, as Cal Lutheran would retake the lead and go on a 38-27 run to close out its third win of the season.
Davis' 16 points were tied for the Kingsmen's lowest individual game-high this season. When asked how the evenly-distributed scoring reflected on the team, head coach
Russell White said, "We're a good team. We're a deep team. We play 10- or 11-deep."
The Kingsmen will look to make it three straight wins when they face Redlands at home on Saturday, December 7.
