ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's cross country runner
Summer Gelman was named First Team All-SCIAC, officially announced by the conference on Thursday morning.
Gelman, a junior from Agoura, California, led the Regals through the 6k course at the 2024 SCIAC Championships last Saturday. She finished 10th with a time of 22:54.7, earning her the all-conference honor. She is the first All-SCIAC recipient for the Regals since 2013, and the first for the entire Cal Lutheran cross country program since 2017.
Gelman has had an incredible first season with the Regals, collecting one SCIAC Athlete of the Week award and being the first Cal Lutheran finisher in every single race so far. She has set two new school records, owning the top all-time finishes on the Mark Covert Classic (19:35.2) and The Master's Invitational (22:58.7) courses.
Next, Gelman will compete at the NCAA West Regional, alongside five more of her teammates. The race is set for Saturday, November 16th and will be held at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada, Oregon courtesy of host Lewis & Clark College.
