LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's water polo secured a 13-10 win over Occidental College at the De Mandel Aquatics Center on Wednesday night, featuring a standout performance from
Lincoln Hall. The SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week was unstoppable, leading the Kingsmen with an impressive six goals on the night.
Oxy struggled to find the back of the net in the first period as Cal Lutheran jumped to an early two goal lead by the efforts of Hall and
Cormac Flanders. However, both squads flipped the switch in the second, scoring a combined 10 goals. Hall kicked off the Kingsmen offense, followed by
Levi Cook,
Paul Patterson, and
Ethan Guereca. Cal Lutheran held a 7-5 lead at halftime.
The Kingsmen kept their momentum going into the second half with two critical
Zachary Isaac goals. They remained ahead of the Tigers through the rest of the contest, finishing things off with a dominant three goals from Hall and one from
Merrick Giles.
Jacob Taff spent the full 32 minutes in goal for the Kingsmen, matching his season-high 12 saves.
The victory brings Cal Lutheran to 12-10 on the season and 5-2 in the SCIAC. Next, they host No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer for their senior day match on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
