REDLANDS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's water polo battled in a tough match up against Redlands in their conference opener, but fell 5-17 on Wednesday evening. The loss puts the Kingsmen at 3-9 on the season and 0-1 in SCIAC.

Nic Mastropoalo, and
Adam Scrivner scored a goal a piece in the contest. Defensively,
Jacob Taff spent the full 32 minutes in goal making 12 saves.
The Bulldogs came in hot, dominating the scoring in each of the four periods. Hall responded to the first Redlands goal in the first period, making it a 1-1 game. The Bulldogs put up five more before Cal Lutheran struck again, this time with back to back goals from Guereca and Sourbeer and a last second point from Mastropoalo to end the second period.
Down by three going into the second half, the Kingsmen proceeded to go scoreless as the Bulldogs posted another five goals in the third quarter. Cal Lutheran took early action in the last period with a goal from Scrivner, but Redlands kept their foot on the gas, increasing their lead by yet another five points and taking the game 17-5.
Next, the Kingsmen head to Los Angeles to compete in the Gary Troyer Tournament. They will face Ottawa University Arizona and Connecticut College on Friday, October 4th at 12:20 PM and 5:40 PM. On Saturday, they'll have a rematch with Westcliff University at 10:40 AM, then take on McKendree University at 4:00 PM.
