TEMPE, Ariz. — Cal Lutheran women's water polo opened their 2024 season at Arizona State for the Cross Country Challenge on Saturday.
The Regals started with strong competition and took on Division I and No. 15 Arizona State Sun Devils and the Loyola Marymount Lions.
It was a tough season opener as the Regals fell to the Sun Devils 26-2. Bethany Metcalfe scored both goals for the Regals and Megan Findlay had an assist. Izzy De Souza and Vianne Will were in goal. De Souza had five saves and two steals and Will made four saves with one steal.
Against Loyola Marymount, Katie Knight led the way with two goals and Jacsen Donohue had one. De Souza and Will continued to split time in the cage. De Souza had four saves and three steals and Will had two.
The Regals are back in action tomorrow and take on Salem at 9 a.m. and Wagner at 11:40.
