CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's basketball had four Regals score double-digits as they defeated Pomona-Pitzer 81-78 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

The Regals improved to 5-1 in conference and 10-4 overall while they dropped the Sagehens to 0-6 and 3-12.

Alline Ballard recorded her seventh double-double of the year as she scored 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Regals. Janna Holley was next with 18 points and five assists and Sara Mills and Kaiya Mack both added 15.

Even with the game being close, the Regals handled the Sagehens in a decent amount of areas with a few others being close. The Regals were dominant with bench points (21-11), points in the paint (40-28), and fast break points (17-9). The teams were closer with points off turnovers (16-15) and second-chance points (14-15).

The Sagehens took the early lead and led 15-7 with 4:29 in the first quarter. The Regals fought back and went up but a three-point basket by the Sagehens at the buzzer tied the game at 21-21.

The teams exchanged leads in the second quarter with the Regals having a 42-36 advantage at the break. Cal Lutheran continued to hold their lead and pushed it to double-digits midway through the third. At the end of three quarters, the Regals were up 58-49. The Sagehens bounced back in the fourth and sent the game to overtime.

With Pomona-Pitzer up 78-75 with 1:13 remaining, Mack made it 78-77 as she made two free throws. After a turnover by the Sagehens, Holley gave the Regals the lead for good as she made a layup with 43 seconds left. The defense did the rest as the Regals took the game 81-78.

The Regals are back home for two straight games. They host Whittier on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
