LOS ANGELES — Cal Lutheran men's soccer stayed undefeated in SCIAC play as they tied preseason favorite Occidental 1-1 on Wednesday night.
Kai Nemoto scored the equalizer with the assist coming to
Joel Wollin.
The Kingsmen matched up well and with the tie are 3-1-4 overall and 1-0-3 in conference play.
"Today was a great way to show our grit as a team," said head coach
Miguel Ruiz. "After we were down 1-0 to a very good Occidental team, the guys responded."
The Kingsmen and Tigers were tied 0-0 at the half. Occidental scored just under four minutes into the second, and Cal Lutheran answered in the 70
th minute.
Cal Lutheran kept the shots coming as they tried to take the lead in the first half and tie the game in the second. They totaled nine shots with seven being on goal. On defense,
Davis Sharts was in goal and kept the Kingsmen in a great position with seven saves
Max Scott and
Preston Fleming led the way with two shots on goal. Nemoto, Wollin, and
Ricardo Zizumbo all added one.
The Kingsmen continue the season at home. They host Caltech on Saturday at 2 p.m.
