THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's soccer surrendered a goal in the first half before answering the call in the second half and tied La Verne 1-1 on Saturday night.
With the tie, the Kingsmen are now 2-1-3 on the season and 0-0-2 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play.
The Kingsmen gave up a goal in the first half as the Leopards drew first blood, scoring in the fifth minute. The Kingsmen had their chances, out-shooting the Leopards 11-6 in the game, but could not convert in the first.
Cal Lutheran broke through in the second half. In the 75
th minute,
Joel Wollin scored the equalizer. He was assisted by
Preston Fleming and the Kingsmen were in business.
Davis Sharts and
Gen Katashiba both saw time in goal for the Kingsmen. Sharts played 62:31 minutes and made one save. Katashiba played the final 27:29.
Wollin kept the offense rolling with two shots on goal.
JP Melgoza and
Maximo Schelotto both added a shot on goal.
The Kingsmen continue conference play at home. They host Chapman on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
