SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Maximo Schelotto scored an equalizer in the 85
th minute, with the assist coming from
JP Melgoza, and Cal Lutheran men's soccer and Pacific (Ore.) tied 2-2 after 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon.
The Kingsmen move to 2-1-1 and wrap up the UC Santa Cruz Tournament with a record of 1-1. Schelotto scored his third goal of the season and Melgoza added his second goal and first assist.
Gen Katashiba was in goal and made one save.
The Boxers scored first and took an early lead in the 14
th minute. The Kingsmen fired back in the final minute of the half. Melgoza converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the season.
The Kingsmen found themselves in a hole once again as the Boxers broke through in the second half. Pacific scored in the 78
th minute and the Kingsmen look to respond. The Kingsmen needed another equalizer and they did just that as Melgoza found Schelotto for a goal in the 85
th minute.
The Kingsmen continue the season on the road as they start conference play. They are at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
