THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cameron Pisan scored the game-winning goal in the 85
th minute and Cal Lutheran men's soccer dramatically started the 2023 season by defeating Marymount (VA) 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
Danny Rodriguez was by the sideline and lofted a beautiful ball into the box. Pisan was on the run and struck the ball perfectly into the bottom right corner of the net. Rodriguez tallied the assist and the Kingsmen's defense did the rest.
Davis Sharts was in goal and recorded the shutout. He made four saves and combined with the defensive unit of
Jack Gominiak,
Aidan Johnston,
Ching Leung, and
Tyler Sherard for a stellar performance.
The Kingsmen had their chances for more, but one goal was all it took. The team had six shots, four being on goal, and six corner kicks. Adding to the shots on goal were
Kai Nemoto,
Chris Pelaez, and
Tika Kakimoto with one each.
The Kingsmen continue their season on Sunday at home. They host Texas Lutheran at 11 a.m.
