REDLANDS, Calif. — Sara Mills hit six three-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Cal Lutheran women's basketball past Redlands on Saturday night.
The Regals are now 2-0 in SCIAC and have won four straight games to improve to 4-3 on the young season.
The offense moved the ball well and totaled 16 assists on 23 made field goals. Janna Holley, Karina McMillan, and Kaiya Mack had three assists each. Alline Ballard and Mack both had 10 points, Grace Godines added nine, and Holley contributed eight more.
The paint was controlled by Aliya DiMuro and Ballard with 12 and eight rebounds, respectively. The Regals had 11 offensive rebounds and forced 17 turnovers, scoring 24 points off those turnovers. Holley led the defense with four steals.
The Regals got off to a hot start and took a 20-13 lead after the first quarter. The script flipped in the second quarter as the Bulldogs outscored the Regals 18-6 and took a 31-26 lead at the half.
Cal Lutheran fired back in the second half and outscored Redlands 40-26, including 18-8 in the fourth. With the Regals up 60-57, Mills drained a three-pointer and made two free throws to put on the finishing touch.
The Regals will continue the season at home with a non-conference opponent. Cal Lutheran hosts Bethesda on Thursday at 6 p.m.
