KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Eden Quiroz, Isabella Veljacic, and Avery West earned First Team and Ally Fisicaro was Third Team to represent Cal Lutheran women's soccer on the 2023 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-Region X team.
The quartet has helped the Regals to a spot in the Final Four of the NCAA, win a share of the SCIAC regular season championship crown, and the best start in program history.
The team's record is 18-1-5 and is tied for the second most wins in program history. The Regals hit 20 wins in 2011 and the last time they had 18 was 2012.
It has been a successful year all over the pitch from offense to defense. West was named the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year and all four were named First Team All-SCIAC.
Quiroz (Newbury Park, Calif.) earned her first All-Region honor and landed on First Team. The graduate transfer has scored a goal in three straight games. The game-winning goal in the second round and Sweet Sixteen games and the equalizer in the Elite Eight. She has five goals and four assists on the year.
Veljacic (Monterey Park, Calif.) earned her first First Team All-Region honor and third All-Region honor of her career. She was Second Team in 2022 and '21. The graduate student leads the offense with nine goals and four assists. At forward, she has accounted for 74 shots and has a shot-on-goal percentage of .527. She recorded the assist in the game against Pomona-Pitzer that sent Cal Lutheran to the Sweet Sixteen.
West (Santa Rosa, Calif.) garnered her second All-Region honor and was First Team. The junior was Third Team a year ago. She was instrumental in the success of the defense. The Regals have shut out 14 opponents and only allowed 130 shots with just 68 on goal. They have allowed just 12 goals with 0.50 per game. West has contributed to the offense with four goals and three assists.
Fisicaro (Santa Rosa, Calif.) earned her first All-Region honor and made Third Team. The senior shined on the defensive end and has been a force to be reckoned with. She has combined with West and many others to shut down opposing offenses. On top of 14 shutouts, they have allowed just one goal eight times.
