United Soccer Coaches announced its NCAA Division III Women's
All-America Teams, and two Cal Lutheran players were honored.
Olivia Suarez was named to the Second Team, and
Anna Evenson made an appearance on the Third Team. Suarez and Evenson represent the first Regals duo to be named All-Americans since 1997.
Coming off back-to-back All-Region selections, Suarez reached another gear during her senior year. She scored a team-high six goals and added three assists, giving her a share of the team lead with 15 points. The midfielder from Stevenson Ranch started in all 23 games for Cal Lutheran this season, becoming just the seventh player in program history to be named to one of the top two All-American Teams.
A forward from San Diego, Evenson's speed was on display all season for the Regals, as she found ways to create her own shot while often setting up great looks for her teammates. She comfortably led the Regals in assists with seven and added four goals, tying her with Suarez for the team lead with 15 points. Evenson started in all 22 of the games she appeared in this fall, and she recorded an assist in each of Cal Lutheran's NCAA Tournament victories against McMurry and Trinity. Evenson's Third Team honor is the 19th All-American recognition in Cal Lutheran's history
This duo of Regals marks the first time that two Cal Lutheran players were named All-Americans in the same year since 1997 when Lara Philby and Kim Holeman accomplished that feat. Suarez and Evenson also made this the third consecutive season with a Regals player making an appearance on the All-American Teams.
