Lewis Pours in Career-High 31 to Lead Kingsmen Past Mustangs

STEVENSON, Md. — Devon Lewis scored a career-high 31 points to lift Cal Lutheran men's basketball to a 78-74 win over Stevenson University (MD) on Tuesday night.

Lewis was locked in all night from inside and from three, shooting 10-21 from the field and 6-11 from beyond the arc. He also added 6 rebounds, two assists, and a block.

Tommy Griffitts and Brock Susko also finished with double-figure scoring, as Griffitts added 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while Susko finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Both players were also solid on the defensive end with Susko recording four steals and Griffitts having two. Stephen Davis contributed seven points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

The Kingsmen led 36-32 at the end of the first half despite struggling through shooting woes to start. They were 37.1% from the field and 16.7% from three, but made up for it by out-rebounding the Mustangs 20-13 in total and 9-1 on the offensive side. The Kingsmen would finish plus 18 in rebounds (42-24).

Starting at the 9:07 mark in the second half, the Mustangs went on an 8-3 run to cut the Kingsmen lead to two points, forcing a timeout with the scoreboard reading 63-61.

After the break, Lewis lit up the floor, scoring 12 of the Kingsmen's final 15 points to secure the victory.

With the win, the Kingsmen improved to 3-1 and Stevenson fell to 2-3. The Kingsmen finish their East Coast road trip against Hood College (MD) on Friday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. PT.
