THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Wayne Bryan, a legend in tennis coaching and father to the undisputed greatest men's doubles team in tennis history, visited Cal Lutheran on Tuesday afternoon to deliver an inspirational message to the Regals and Kingsmen tennis teams.
Bryan began having student-athletes complete a four-question survey about how each team member can increase attendance at their matches, how they can help their coaching staff, how they can help their teammates, and how they can help the CLU tennis program. The highly interactive session included Bryan challenging each team member to brainstorm ways to improve their tennis program continuously and offering his ideas from his decades of coaching.
The renowned author, speaker, and three-time Coach of the Year in World Team Tennis then gave on-court demonstrations to the men and women, offering drills and philosophies that led his sons, Bob and Mike Bryan, to win every conceivable collegiate and professional tennis honor, including a joint world #1 rankings for a record 438 weeks.
Bryan is a Camarillo resident and offered to speak to the teams out of an appreciation for Cal Lutheran Head Tennis Coach Mike Gennette's many contributions to tennis over several decades.
