THOUSAND OAKS, Calif — Cal Lutheran football put on a clinic as they shut out La Verne 55-0 on Saturday night to cap off Homecoming Weekend. With the win, the Kingsmen improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC play.

Cal Lutheran was 7-for-7 on red-zone scores, only punted twice, had zero turnovers, and allowed just 1.0 yards per rush. It was a complete team effort as the Kingsmen won their second straight game.

The Kingsmen's defense was everywhere as they shut out the Leopards. The big play was a 95-yard pick-six by John Moore. AJ Townsend also recorded an interception. The Kingsmen tallied seven sacks as Devon Goosby recorded three. Neville Richardson, Jackson White, Anthony Gallego and Bennington Smith had one each. Dylan Turner hit the century mark on the ground. He rushed 19 times for 100 yards and scored twice. McNamara had nine rushes for 75 yards and a score while CJ Zackery recorded 37 yards and a score.

The Kingsmen scored a touchdown on the first drive of the game and set the tone. They went 67 yards in six plays over a time of 3:23. It was capped off by a 2-yard pass from Andrade to Cadam. They added another touchdown right before the end of the quarter. Turner finished off an 8-play, 55-yard drive with a 4-yard rushing touchdown.

The Kingsmen kept the points coming in the second quarter. They scored on their first drive to start the second quarter as Andrade threw his second touchdown pass, this time to Matzke for four yards. The Leopard looked to make their move and drove down to the Kingsmen 12-yard line. The Kingsmen defense made their stand and Moore intercepted the pass at the 5-yard line and ran it 95 yards for a pick-six.  The Kingsmen added one more score, with 3:24 left in the half. Turner ran it in from 1-yard out and the Kingsmen had a 35-0 lead at the half.

The Kingsmen picked up in the second half right where they left off in the first. They received the kick and went the distance as CJ Zackery ran it in from 1-yard out. The Kingsmen added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. McNamara threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to T. Cadam and then ran it in from 14 yards out.
