REDLANDS, Calif — Cal Lutheran football's comeback in the second half fell short as the Kingsmen were outlasted by Redlands 20-10 on Saturday night.
The Kingsmen were outscored 17-0 in the second quarter and were down by the same amount at the half. They flipped the script in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 10-3 but it wasn't enough as the Kingsmen dropped to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The defense allowed 20 points or less for the second time this year.
Arthur Orta led the way with 11 tackles with 2.0 for loss.
Hunter Hall was next with 10 tackles and one for loss.
Jayden Monick recorded eight tackles and
Diego Serrano and
Devon Goosby had five each. Kilo Scanlon forced a fumble and Serrano recovered it.
Cal Lutheran quarterback
JP Andrade was 20-for-37 for 198 yards with an interception.
Tyson Lundring caught six of those passes for 64 yards.
Cade Cadam caught four balls for 43 yards,
Tyler Shimomura had three for 40 and
Jadon Cline had three for 20. On the ground,
Caleb Berry had a rushing touchdown.
The defenses were solid to start the game as neither offense could score in the first quarter. Redlands broke through in the second quarter and took their 17-0 lead at the half. The Kingsmen cut into the deficit in the third quarter as Berry had a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Both teams kicked a field goal in the fourth as
Daniel Burgos made his from 26 yards.
The Kingsmen continue the season on the road and are at Chapman on October 21st at 7 p.m.
