LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team continued Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play this Saturday against Occidental. The Kingsmen were coming off of a strong win against Chapman earlier this week, but dropped tonight's match against the Tigers 3-0.
Highlights: CLU finished with 10 shots total, with three of them being on target. Shots on target came from Chris Ortiz, Jaime Alvarado,and Gabe Fernando. Sergio Esquivel recorded five saves, bringing his season total up to 25 saves through the first six matches.
The Opponent: The Tigers were kept quiet until the second half, when Liam Walsh found the back of the net in the 63rd minute. Walsh added a second to his tally shortly after in the 67th minute on an unassisted strike past the goalkeeper. The final goal from Oxy came from Tod Kawada, his third on the season.
Cal Lutheran (3-3, 2-2 SCIAC) will return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m. for a home match against Caltech.
