PORTLAND, Ore. - The Cal Lutheran women's soccer team concluded a successful trip to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday afternoon by shutting out Lewis & Clark 3-0 at Griswold Stadium.
Offensive Highlights: After peppering the goal with eight shots in the first half to no avail, the Regals continued the offensive pressure and broke through in the second half for all three goals. Ryley Settles scored two goals within two minutes, her third in two games, and benefited off assists by Bri Pinal and Kali Youngdahl. In the 64th minute, Youngdahl send one into the back of the net from six yards out off another assist from Pinal. Pinal now has four assists and a goal in just four games so far this season. The Violet and Gold outshot the Pioneers 15-3 in the game. Settles led the way with four shots, including three on goal, while Pinal and Youngdahl added three and Jordan Miller tallied two.
Defensive Highlights: Stacy Choate-Ciletti earned her first start of the season in goal for CLU and recorded three saves to secure the shutout.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (4-0) will begin Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play this Wednesday, Sept. 14 against Redlands inside Rolland Stadium.
