LOS ANGELES, Calif. - After rain postponed the original meeting between the Cal Lutheran and Occidental women's tennis teams, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match was worth the wait for the Regals as the visiting team took down the Tigers 8-1 at Scholl Canyon today.

Cal Lutheran jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after doubles as Shelby Kubotaand Annette Sousa won 8-3 at No. 3 and both No. 1 Gianna Cupoand Emily Wermanand Rebecca Goldand Sarah Seemanwon 8-6. Once singles play got underway, Werman (6-0, 6-1) won easily at No. 2 and Gold also put away her opponent promptly, 6-1, 6-2, on court number three. In the top spot, Cupo posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory and at No. 6 Nicole Neumannworked her way to a 6-1, 6-3 victory. The final CLU point of the afternoon came from Kubota who won a tiebreaker to defeat her competitor 6-1, 7-6 (10-7).
Notables:The match today was rescheduled from April 9.
Up Next:Cal Lutheran (11-4, 3-3 SCIAC) returns to the Poulson Tennis Center tomorrow, Saturday, April 30, for the final time of the spring. The Regals will host Chapman at 10:00 a.m. with a senior recognition ceremony preceding competition.
