THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Facing off against No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match on Saturday, the Cal Lutheran women's tennis team gave the Sagehens all they could handle but fell 9-0 at Poulson Tennis Center.
In doubles competition, the Regals fell behind 3-0 early but put up a fight as Emily Werman and Gianna Cupo battled to an 8-4 score at No. 1 and Rebecca Gold and Christie Kurdys fell just 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles action, the Violet and Gold fell in straight sets in all six matches, with Cupo putting up the biggest fight at No. 1, nearly stealing a set before falling 6-3, 7-5. Sarah Seeman battled to a 6-3, 6-2 score at No. 2 and Gold also had a close 6-3 defeat at No. 5.
Cal Lutheran (10-4, 2-3 SCIAC) will take a break from SCIAC action to compete in the Ojai Tournament beginning this Thursday, Apr. 21.
