THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Returning to Poulson Tennis Center for the first time in nearly two weeks, the Cal Lutheran men's tennis team squared off against Skidmore College (N.Y.) in non-conference action but fell short, 7-2, to the Thoroughbreds on Tuesday afternoon.
After the Kingsmen fell at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to begin the match, the pairing of Lucas Tilly and Chris Hartman pulled through for CLU with a thrilling 9-8 win at No. 2 over Kit Sanderson and Jonah Epstein.
The momentum, however, did not translate into singles action as Skidmore proved to be too strong, taking four out of five. Dara Kashani was a bright spot for the Violet and Gold as he picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Sanderson at No. 2 while Gio Valdez, Jesper Lunding-Johansson and Michael Sulahian all forced their matches to a third set.
Cal Lutheran (1-8) continues non-conference action as they host Pacific (Ore.) this Saturday, Mar. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
