REDLANDS, Calif. - The longest Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) road-trip of the season for the Cal Lutheran men's soccer team came tonight when the Kingsmen travelled to Redlands where teams needed 20 extra minutes of action before the squads walked away with a 2-2 draw.
Offensive Highlights: Brandon Kearney continued his offensive assault with two more goals tonight. Three of his four shots were on goal with a pair finding the back of the net. The first occurred just 38 seconds into the game to give CLU a quick advantage. His second came on an assist from Nick Baldi in the 40th minute, pushing the lead to 2-0. Overall, the Kingsmen only took eight shots. Both Bryan Hulse and Pedro Zaccarelli managed to fire off a shot at the cage in his only attempt.
Defensive Highlights: Doing the goalkeeping for CLU was Sean Williams who finished with eight saves.
The Opponent: Redlands entered the game ranked third in the SCIAC and maintained that position with a comeback. A pair of second half goals occurred in the final 10 minutes of action with the second coming off a corner kick. UR took 25 total shots tonight with 15 corners.
Notables: Nine different Kingsmen played all 110 minutes tonight including Kearney, Williams, Henry Breheny, Nathan Davidson, Casey Kurtenbach, Andres Mendoza, Aspen Smith, Josh Yudell and Charlie Villa-Lovos. Kearney has scored five goals in his last two games and seven in the last five contests.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (2-5-2, 2-3-1 SCIAC) remains on the road for its next contest, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30. The Kingsmen will travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff against the Stags
