REDLANDS, Calif. - Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) men's water polo took Cal Lutheran on its longest road trip of the season today. At Redlands this afternoon, the Bulldogs downed the Kingsmen 12-5 in league play.
Offensive Highlights: The five CLU goals came from as many players with Shea Craig, AJ Franklin, Chris Gardhouse, Camron Hauer and Ben Russell each finding the back of the net. Craig also handed out a pair of assists with Gardhouse and Mats Albins adding one apiece as well. Albins and Gardhouse were each responsible for two drawn ejections as the Kingsmen tallied eight overall.
Defensive Highlights: A trio of players had multi-steal games with Zack Card leading the attack by nabbing three while Franklin and Russell both came up with two. A pair of field blocks came from Albins and Hauer. Doing the goalkeeping was sophomore Nick Loomis who turned away 15 attempts.
The Opponent: Redlands took an early 3-1 lead and opened the lead up to 5-3 at the intermission. A four-goal third quarter was the difference today.
Notables: Only two regular season games remain before SCIAC Championships, which are set for Nov. 20-22 in La Verne.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (8-12, 2-4 SCIAC) returns to the Samuelson Aquatics Center for the final time on Saturday, Nov. 7 for an 11:00 a.m. contest against Occidental. Prior to the start of the game, CLU will recognize a trio of senior Kingsmen.
