REDLANDS, Calif. - The No. 6 Cal Lutheran women's volleyball team controlled a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match at Redlands this afternoon, winning 3-0 in straight set victories of 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 to improve to 6-0 in the conference standings.
Offensive Highlights: As a team, CLU hit at a .409 clip after notching a .324 percentage in the first game, an incredible .542 average in the second set and an even .400 showing in the third game. Middle blocker Sarah Pappas was perfect with eight kills in as many attempts today while Michelle Lawrence led all players with 11 kills. Jamie Smith handed out 27 assists and Mikayla Dobson came off the bench for a dozen. Amanda Roberts provided a pair of service aces.
Defensive Highlights: The Regals combined for 7.0 blocks and 39 digs.Robertsand Nicki Tetherow shared the match-high with eight digs apiece. Hope Stewart put down the only solo block of the day and both Allie Eason and Monica Lundgren finished with three block assists in the win.
The Opponent: Redlands managed to hit just .144. Marisa Gile led the way offensively with eight kills and Ellie McLeod notched a team-high seven digs.
Notables: CLU stretched its win-streak to seven matches. The Regals have won 16 consecutive games. Thirteen different Regals stepped on the court tonight in the win. CLU did not commit a ball handling error in the match. Roberts flirted with a double-double with seven kills and eight digs.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (16-2, 6-0 SCIAC) next plays on Tuesday, Oct. 6 when the Regals welcome the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens for a 7:30 p.m. first serve at the Gilbert Arena.
