THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Senior Lindsay Murphy won her singles match in the final home regular season match of her career but Cal Lutheran couldn't keep the momentum going as it fell 8-1 to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe Pomona-Pitzer Saturday afternoon.
The Sagehens got an early 3-0 start when Arthi Padmanbhan and Mae Coyiuto defeated Rebecca Gold and Shelby Kubota in the No. 1 doubles 8-3, Maddie Gordon and Rosemary Pelch topped Dana Raugust and Murphy 8-5 in the No. 2, while Alex Antonoplis and Constance Wu won 8-0 over Kari Ayres and Katie Carroll in the No. 3.
Murphy got CLU its only point of the day when she defeated Sammy Chao 6-3, 2-6, 10-5. Unfortunately for the Regals, Pomona-Pitzer swept the rest of the singles matches for its 13th win of the year.
Cal Lutheran (3-11, 1-6 SCIAC) will close out its regular season with a match against Caltech on Friday, April 18. The contest will get underway at 2:00 p.m.
