CLAREMONT, Calif. - Less than 24 hours after battling the Beavers to 5-4, six-hour victory at home, the Cal Lutheran women's tennis team headed to No. 15 Pomona-Pitzer to face off with the Sagehens in another Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match, falling 9-0.
CLU was unable to squeak out a victory over PP, though Lindsay Murphy, playing at No. 1 singles for the first time all season, took set two to a 7-5 final after dropping the first 6-2.
Emily Werman played on the second singles court, battling in the first set before falling 6-4, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles Werman and Sarah Baker teamed up against Jamie Solomon and Marie Fleming, falling by an 8-4 margin.
Cal Lutheran (4-4, 1-3 SCIAC) returns to the courts on Friday, March 8 to kick off a seven-match home stand. The Regals will host Sewanee in non-conference action set to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Poulson Tennis Center.
