EAGLE ROCK, Calif., - The Cal Lutheran Women's soccer teams had one their strongest performances thus far on the season, defeating Occidental College 4-0 Saturday night in Eagle Rock. With the win, CLU improves to 7-1 and 4-0 in the SCIAC.
The win also marks the seventh-straight for CLU and the four goals matches a season-high total. The CLU defense also recorded its sixth shutout in its last seven games.
Taylor Will led the way scoring two goals and increasing her season total to four. The sophomore struck first in the 15th minute when she stole the ball away from an Oxy defender and shot it put past the goalkeeper to put the Regals up 1-0. Will added another goal in the first minute of the second half when she chipped the ball over the Oxy goal into the upper-right corner.
Kristina Hulse netted her first goal of the year when she blasted a shot in the 23rd minute into the bottom right corner to put CLU up 2-0.
Nicole Rains added her second goal of the year when she received a pass from Mayra Virgen and put in the back of the net, stretching CLU's lead to 3-0.
Goalkeeper Kristen Bailey saved the only shot she saw before giving way to Karly Loberg in the second half.
Cal Lutheran's defenders Anna Medler, Kristen DiPippo, Stephanie Gilbert and Jenna Malinowski have combined to go the last 268 minutes without allowing a goal.
With the win, the Regals have ascended to the top of the SCIAC with its 4-0 record.
The Regals return home tomorrow for a non-conference bout against UC Santa Cruz at 1:00 p.m. at William Rolland Stadium.
