THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The road to a second consecutive SCIAC Tournament championship runs through Thousand Oaks as the Cal Lutheran women's soccer team enters the 2026 postseason as the No. 1 seed. The Regals will host No. 5 Chapman in the semifinals Wednesday, November 4, at William Rolland Stadium, with kickoff at 7 p.m.

Cal Lutheran secured the top seed and home-field advantage throughout the tournament after finishing the regular season 15-1-3 overall and 10-0-2 in SCIAC play. The Regals capped the conference slate with a statement 2-1 victory over previously undefeated Pomona-Pitzer, claiming the regular-season championship and extending their winning streak to 12 games.

The Regals have been dominant on both ends of the field, outscoring opponents 51-9 through 19 matches. Their 51 goals lead the SCIAC by 10, while their 11 shutouts and stingy defensive efforts have helped limit opponents to just 129 shots all season. Cal Lutheran averages 22 shots per game while allowing just 6.8, consistently controlling possession and keeping opposing offenses in check.

Sophomore forward Sawyer Frye has been a driving force behind the Regals' attack, ranking second in the conference with seven goals while leading the SCIAC with eight assists. Her 22 points are tied for the conference lead with Pomona-Pitzer's Brooke Bailey. Stephenie Hackett has also provided a consistent offensive presence with six goals on the season.

Defensively, Tessa French, Hannah Gamez, Ericka Marciel and Keira Hazard have anchored a backline that has made life difficult for opposing offenses. Behind them, goalkeeper Kira Kasarda has been outstanding when called upon, ranking second in the SCIAC with an .844 save percentage.

The Regals enter the tournament looking to defend the championship they captured last season, their first SCIAC Tournament title since 2011. Cal Lutheran has qualified for the conference tournament every year since joining the SCIAC in 2006 and is also looking to extend its streak of three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

Standing in the way of another championship appearance is Chapman, which enters Wednesday's semifinal at 6-8-3 overall and 6-5-1 in conference play. The Panthers advanced through Monday's first round after playing Occidental to a scoreless draw and prevailing in a penalty shootout.

Cal Lutheran defeated Chapman 3-0 in their regular-season meeting at William Rolland Stadium in mid-September. After a scoreless opening 40 minutes, Atiana Santoyo broke through in the 42nd minute off an assist from Emily Broel. Makenna Tanaka doubled the lead early in the second half with the first goal of her collegiate career before Isabella Haulman converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute. Kasarda made five saves to preserve the shutout as the Regals held Chapman to just eight shots.

The other semifinal features No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer hosting No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday. The winners will advance to the SCIAC Tournament championship game on Saturday, November 7, hosted by the highest remaining seed.

Tickets are $10 online or at the gate, plus fees. SCIAC students, faculty and staff with institutional identification, along with children under 12, receive free admission.
