GLENDALE, Calif. - Cal Lutheran women's tennis earned a resounding 8-1 conference road win over Occidental at the Scholl Canyon Tennis Center on Saturday. Super tiebreak wins from Kim Kolibas and Holly Beaman capped off a Regals singles sweep.

It was an ominous start for Cal Lutheran as Occidental (6-9, 0-5 SCIAC) earned the opening point of the match. Frances Hutton and Rachel Washtien teamed up for their first conference doubles win of the season at second doubles to open Saturday's action.
CLU tied the match after Lauren Toohey and Sarah Baker scored an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. Kolibas and Beaman earned a momentum shifting victory taking first doubles 9-7 over Krishnaveni Subbiah and Rachel Buckner.
Lindsay Murphy and Baker won their respective matches 6-0, 6-0 to put Cal Lutheran one point away from clinching the team result. Straight set victories by Jordan Leckness and Carly Mouzes confirmed a Cal Lutheran victory and left the Tigers still searching for their first SCIAC win of the season.
Beaman rallied to win the second set and super tiebreak third for a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) victory at second singles. Kolibas dropped a second set tiebreak before winning a third set super tiebreak and the match 6-3, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (10-7) at first singles over Subbiah. Kolibas' victory is the first in four tries over a regionally ranked opponent this season.
Head Coach Vanessa McPadden took over sole possession of fourth on the CLU all-time wins list with her 21st following Saturday's win. She is one behind Ben Roberson (2005-07) for third and seven back of Mike Benson (2008-09, '11) for second.
Cal Lutheran (10-6, 3-2 SCIAC) will host No. 9 nationally ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (13-3, 4-0 SCIAC) on Friday, April 20.
