THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran defeated Caltech 8-1 during its first SCIAC contest of the season at the Poulson Tennis Center on Saturday. The Regals swept doubles and won five of the first six points to secure the win.

Results: CLU 8, CIT 1 - F

The CLU doubles teams of Kim Kolibas and Holly Beaman, along with Lauren Toohey and Sarah Baker cruised to victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Teammates Jordan Leckness and Lindsay Murphy found trouble early in their match trailing 6-1 in a superset.

Caltech's Stephanie Kwan and Wubing Ye were in good shape before Leckness and Murphy reeled off the final seven games to win 8-6. The win put the Regals up 3-0 in the team score and in need of only two singles victories for the match.

Beaman and Leckness provided the two necessary points winning their matches in straight sets. Four of CLU's five singles victories were completed in two sets, with Lauren Toohey winning a third set super tiebreak at No. 6 singles against Jessica Yeung.

Caltech's Rebekah Kitto won at No. 1 singles to score the lone Beavers point of the match.

Cal Lutheran (4-1, 1-0 SCIAC) will host matches on back-to-back days starting with Brandeis (0-0) on Monday, Feb. 20, at 3 p.m.
