THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – No. 14 Cal Lutheran women's soccer opened its 2026 slate in style Thursday afternoon, cruising to a 2-0 victory over Concordia University Texas at William Rolland Stadium.
The Regals (1-0-0) controlled the match from the opening whistle, holding the Tornadoes (0-1-0) without a shot in the first half while firing 14 of their own. Cal Lutheran continued to dictate play throughout the second half, finishing with a commanding 23-3 advantage in shots and 13-1 edge in corner kicks.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Regals finally broke through in the 63rd minute.

Sawyer Frye, who buried the first goal of the season to give Cal Lutheran a 1-0 lead.
The Regals' defense continued to suffocate Concordia, allowing just three total shots throughout the afternoon and only one shot on target. Goalkeeper
Kira Kasarda made one save to preserve the clean sheet in her first appearance of the season.
With just under three minutes remaining,
Jessica Sprouse put the match away, finding the back of the net in the 88th minute to double the Regals' advantage and seal the 2-0 home-opening victory.
Sprouse led the Regals with three shots, all three on target, while Haulman,
Olivia Suarez,
Stephenie Hackett, and
Riley Cardenas each added three more. Frye finished with two shots and the game-winner.
The Regals return to William Rolland tomorrow, September 4, hosting George Fox at 7 p.m.
