VENTURA, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's golf opened its fall season at its home course this week, finishing sixth at the California State Intercollegiate at Olivas Links Golf Course.
The Kingsmen carded a three-round team score of 1-over-par, opening with back-to-back rounds of 4-over before closing the tournament with an impressive 7-under-par final round.
Luke Rimkunas led the way for the Kingsmen, tying for sixth individually. The senior opened his final campaign with three consecutive rounds of strong play, shooting a 2-under 70 in the opening round before carding an even-par 72 in the second. He saved his best for last, firing a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish at 5-under for the tournament.
Rimkunas was one of 16 golfers in the field to finish at 1-under or better, joining a leaderboard that included tournament champion Sebi Aliaga of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who finished at 20-under.
Freshman
Shane Moncrief also made an immediate impression in his first collegiate tournament, tying for 10th individually. After opening with a 2-over 74, Moncrief responded with back-to-back 2-under 70s to finish two strokes under par.
Jackson Stitt, a 2026 All-SCIAC honoree, tied for 26th after rounds of 1-over, 2-over and 1-under.
Dylan Mott tied for 40th at 8-over, while
Nick Huffman rounded out the Kingsmen scoring lineup in a tie for 43rd at 10-over.
Competing as individuals on their home course,
Darren Powell and
Tyler Meister both finished at even-par to tie for 17th.
The California State Intercollegiate featured seven teams, including reigning NCAA Division III national champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, along with Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental, Redlands, Lewis & Clark and Chapman.
The Kingsmen continue their fall season October 5-6 when they travel to Douglasville, Georgia, for Oglethorpe's West Pines Collegiate.
