SEGUIN, Texas – No. 14 Cal Lutheran women's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw with University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday evening at Gustafson Field, moving to 3-0-1 on the season.
The Regals grabbed an early lead before UMHB rallied with two second-half goals, but Cal Lutheran's
Isabella Haulman answered late to salvage the draw and remain unbeaten through four matches.
Tessa French opened the scoring in the 15th minute, heading home a feed from reigning SCIAC Athlete of the Week
Olivia Suarez to give the Regals a 1-0 advantage. The goal marked French's first of the season, while Suarez picked up her 10th point of the year with the assist.
Cal Lutheran carried the one-goal advantage into halftime, holding UMHB to six shots in the opening 45 minutes.
The Crusaders quickly erased the deficit after the break, with Audrey Harlien finding the back of the net in the 59th minute to tie the match at 1-1. UMHB then took its lead in the 71st minute when Madelyn Price scored off an assist from Gracie Ruthven.
With time winding down, the Regals found the equalizer off the foot of Haulman in the 85th minute, bringing the match level at 2-2 and securing the draw.
Cal Lutheran finished with an 18-13 advantage in shots and earned five corner kicks to UMHB's two.
Kira Kasarda made six saves in goal for the Regals.
The Regals remain in Seguin for their second match of the weekend, facing Texas Lutheran University on Sunday, September 13 at 9 AM PT / 11 AM CT.
