THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's soccer sophomore
Zach Mohr erupted for a hat trick Friday night, scoring three times to power the Kingsmen to an electric 3-1 victory over Colorado College at William Rolland Stadium.
With the win, Cal Lutheran improves to 2-1-1 on the season, already matching its win total from all of last season just four matches into the 2026 campaign.
Mohr opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing off a set piece that started with a dangerous free kick from
Shaw Nishizawa.
Liam Stoner got his head on Nishizawa's service to further direct the ball toward goal, where Mohr was waiting to put the Kingsmen in front, 1-0.
Colorado College answered in the 33rd minute when Arlo Sollinger found the back of the net to send the match into halftime tied at one apiece, but Mohr wasted little time putting the Kingsmen back in front.
Just over five minutes into the second half, Mohr struck again, finding the back of the net in the 51st minute to give Cal Lutheran a 2-1 advantage.
From there, the Kingsmen defense held firm as
Jackson Bankers turned aside all five of Colorado College's shots on target in the second half. Cal Lutheran weathered the Tigers' pressure and continued to battle for a chance to put the match away.
That chance came in the 90th minute as
Maximo Schelotto played a ball into Mohr, who completed the hat trick at 89:49 to seal the victory.
Cal Lutheran now turns its attention to another major test, hosting No. 4 Emory University on Sunday, September 13. The Kingsmen will look to carry the energy from Friday night into their next matchup against one of the nation's best.
