THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – In a move set to redefine the game day atmosphere at Cal Lutheran, the Department of Athletics announced Wednesday morning a sweeping transformation of William Rolland Stadium, highlighted by a redesigned playing surface and a full-stadium seating upgrade.
The project will feature a striking new field design with a purple base and gold accents, paired with a complete overhaul of the stadium's seating to mirror the premium look of the department's season ticket sections. Upon completion, every seat in the venue will reflect a coordinated purple and gold pattern, creating a unified and unmistakable home for Kingsmen and Regals competition.
The initiative, which has been under "extensive review" in recent months, is aimed at elevating both the student-athlete and fan experience while strengthening Cal Lutheran's visual identity across all home events.
In addition to the bold color palette, the updated field will include a refreshed midfield logo, enhanced end zone designs, and alternating field textures designed to add depth under stadium lighting. The seating redesign will extend throughout the entire facility, incorporating patterned arrangements intended to create a dynamic visual effect from both field level and broadcast angles.
Cal Lutheran will become one of a select group of programs to feature both a non-traditional playing surface and fully customized stadium seating, positioning William Rolland Stadium as one of the most visually distinctive venues in the region.
Installation of both the field and seating is expected to begin following the conclusion of the spring season, with completion targeted ahead of the 2026-27 home schedule. More details regarding the official unveiling, including fan preview opportunities, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Editor's Note: While the vision of a purple and gold stadium may spark excitement, this announcement arrives with a calendar reminder — Happy April Fools' Day from Cal Lutheran Athletics.
