PORTLAND, Ore. — The California Lutheran University women's tennis team secured its second consecutive shutout Monday morning, dominating the University of Puget Sound 7-0.
The victory allowed the Regals (3-1) to finish their three-match road swing undefeated.
Cal Lutheran set the tone early in doubles play. The duo of
Eva Toplak and
Anaya Ayanbadejo sparked the momentum with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position, helping the Regals sweep all three doubles matches to secure the opening point.
The dominance transitioned into singles play, where Cal Lutheran showed remarkable depth by winning every court in straight sets.
Anya Rajan was untouchable at the No. 2 spot, turning in a "double bagel" 6-0, 6-0 performance.
Evelyn Oltmans followed suit at No. 3 with a clinical 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Kylee Limpias officially clinched the team win at the No. 1 position, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-2 to secure the deciding fourth point.
Despite the match already being decided, the Regals refused to let up.
Grace Balasian, Ayanbadejo, and Toplak each added points in the remaining flights to complete the 7-0 sweep.
The Regals return home to Thousand Oaks this week. They are scheduled to host Bates College on Saturday, February 21 with first serve set for 10 a.m.
