Regals Surge in Singles to Defeat Pacific

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Cal Lutheran women's tennis began its Oregon road swing with a 5-2 win over Pacific University on Friday afternoon at the Holce Tennis Courts.

Similar to the Kingsmen earlier in the day, the Regals dropped the doubles point before storming back in singles play to secure the team win.

Pacific claimed two of the three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. Evelyn Oltmans and Grace Balasian earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2, but the Boxers responded with wins at No. 3 and No. 1 to grab the opening point.

CLU flipped the momentum going into singles as Oltmans evened the score with a hard-fought 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Anya Rajan followed with a three-set battle at No. 2, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).

Anaya Ayanbadejo rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5, and from there, the Purple & Gold closed the door as Grace Balasian added a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4, and Eva Toplak secured the point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The Regals continue their road trip on Sunday with a 6 p.m. matchup at Linfield University.
