LA VERNE, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's basketball (8-5, 3-1 SCIAC) won its second-straight game and its third-straight SCIAC matchup on the road at La Verne (2-9, 0-3 SCIAC) on Wednesday evening, 86-69.
Andrew Pipersburgh scored a career-high 14 points to go along with 12 rebounds in an impressive performance for the Kingsmen.
Ryder Mjoen got Cal Lutheran on the board with a jumper on its first offensive possession. The Kingsmen would retain the lead for the remainder of the game. An offensive rebound and putback from Pipersburgh a few minutes later made the score 8-0 in favor of Cal Lutheran.

Makaio Morphy steal led to his own fastbreak dunk the other way, and a three-pointer from
PJ Jourdain gave the Kingsmen a 15-point lead midway through the opening half. Later in the period,
Josh DeVore sank a triple to extend Cal Lutheran's lead to 31-13.
The Leopards would not go down easily, however, as they pieced together a 14-2 run to cut the score to 33-27 with 40 ticks left until halftime. Pipersburgh was able to regain some momentum for the Kingsmen, converting an and-one putback moments before the buzzer to give Cal Lutheran a 9-point lead entering the break.
Eight-straight points to open the second half, capped off by a
Matthew Verkamp jumper, quickly returned the Kingsmen to a comfortable position up 44-27.
Jaden Young then scored eight points in a span of two minutes to put Cal Lutheran up by 27 midway through the period, its largest lead of the game.
The Kingsmen would go on to win 86-69.
Pipersburgh tallied 14 points (3/3 FG, 8/11 FT), easily surpassing his previous career-high of six. He added 12 rebounds to complete the double-double in a dominant effort.
Young co-led his team with 14 points (5/10 FG, 2/5 3FG), adding four rebounds and two assists.
Cal Lutheran has a tough test waiting on Saturday when it will go on the road to face Redlands, currently ranked #12 in the nation. Tip-off is at 2pm.
