Eight Cal Lutheran football players appeared on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for their abilities in the classroom and on the field.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, earn over a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and compete in a certain number of his team's contests in a given season.
Blake Hurley, a sophomore outside linebacker from Portland, Oregon, appeared in all 10 games and made 48 tackles with 4.5 TFL, 1.0 sacks, and 1 pass defended. In 2024, Hurley was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.
Davian Gonzalez, a senior tight end from Fillmore, appeared in all 10 games and collected four receptions for 52 yards while contributing effectively as a blocker. He was named Second Team All-SCIAC this season, and this marks his second-consecutive Academic All-District appearance.
Jeremiah Alemayehu, a senior inside linebacker from Van Nuys, appeared in all 10 games and made 27 tackles with 0.5 TFL, 1 pass defended, and 1 fumble recovery.
Max Juarez, a junior defensive lineman from Bakersfield, appeared in all 10 games and made 37 tackles with 5.0 TFL and 1.5 sacks. He was named Second Team All-SCIAC this season.
Kyle Howie, a senior punter from Oak Park, appeared in all 10 games and punted the ball 39 times for an average of 42.7 yards per punt. He had a long punt of 61 yards and pinned 8 punts inside the 20-yard line. He was named the SCIAC's John Zinda Award recipient this season, along with First Team All-SCIAC and Third Team All-Region selections. This marks his second-consecutive Academic All-District appearance.
Drew Nees, a sophomore outside linebacker from Portland, Oregon, appeared in all 10 games and made 68 tackles with 14.0 TFL, 8.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 1 pick-six, 12 passes defended, and 2 fumbles forced. He was named First Team All-SCIAC this season.
Logan Bowers, a senior inside linebacker from Bakersfield, appeared in all 10 games and made 65 tackles with 7.0 TFL, 4.0 sacks, 1 pass defended, 1 fumble forced, and 2 blocked kicks. He was named First Team All-SCIAC this season.
Tyler Woodworth, a junior wide receiver from Ventura, appeared in all 10 games and totaled 40 receptions for 624 yards and three touchdowns. He was named First Team All-SCIAC this season.
Howie, Nees, and Woodworth are up for CSC Academic All-American status, which will be determined in the coming weeks.
