THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's soccer (4-2-1, 1-1) protected its home turf, grabbing a 1–0 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps behind a first-half goal from
Riley Cardenas and a steady defensive performance.
The decisive moment came in the 24th minute when
Anna Evenson played a well-timed ball into Cardenas, who finished low to the left corner to put the Regals on top.
From there, Cal Lutheran controlled the run of play while limiting CMS to just six attempts and three on frame. Keeper
Kelsey Slaugh anchored the defense with key saves in the second half as the Athenas pushed forward in search of the back of the net. The Regals' back line held firm through the closing stretch, securing the shutout and the win.
With the result, Cal Lutheran improves to 1-1 in SCIAC play, adding another strong performance to its season.
